And it takes basically the whole show but by the time you get to the center of who he is, your heart is breaking because you love him so much but you can see how messed up he is. This is why I'm kinda mad that John ended the show "alone" so to speak - the one person I wanted desperately to NOT be alone is standing by himself a little bit :(
